Transporting to Ibiza

If you are transporting your belongings to Ibiza in your car, it is possible to drive from the UK in 2-3 days, depending on your pace of travel.

The journey length obviously depends on where you are starting out – from the midlands, the total distance to Ibiza is approximately 1300 miles. Your route may vary on personal preferences, but we chose to drive to Dover on day 1 and stay overnight by the port, catching the P&O ferry across the channel the following morning. We drove through France on day 2, staying overnight at the French/Spanish border and then boarding the Barcelona-Ibiza ferry at 4pm on day 3.

If you are organised and have both sets of ferry tickets already booked, the whole journey from the UK to Ibiza is quite reasonable. You can book the ferry tickets online and just show the booking reservation number at the check-in desk. If you are unsure which ferry crossing you will be able to make, you can book your tickets on the day if you have internet access.

French motorways are, in general, excellent with plenty of service stations at regular intervals. Don’t forget to keep loose change and notes handy for the numerous toll booths that you will go through in France. We estimate that we spent around 70 euros altogether on toll charges during the journey.

Last but not least, a satellite navigation system in your car is a definite must-have to make your journey as stress-free as possible!

If you are flying from the UK to Ibiza, Skyscanner is a good website to search for low-cost flights with an easy to use chart display that shows the varying prices between different airlines over a chosen period – very handy if you can be flexible on travel dates as there can be a huge difference in price between flying one day and the next.
